Well, wheel of time is ~60 minutes each.

Equals around 26.6 million distinct streamers (meaning it could be much higher in viewers). If I did the math right.

1.4 million viewers is...well....1.4 million viewers.

In streaming viewers it would mean a dedicated series on Amazon has around 19X the number of viewers Critical Role has.

OR, if we separate it into 3 episodes with 1.4 million different veiwers each, that would still leave Amazon at 6X the number of veiwers of Critical Role (and I rounded down in FAVOR of CR numbers).
Divided by 3 for those numbers being for the first three episodes.

Wait, wheel of time has been a popular book series for how long?

How does its numbers mean VM isn’t going to be a huge success?
It doesn't.

Most likely none of us can tell if it will be or not.

I am just going off of what they normally look at to determine whether a series will have a better chance of success or not. This is why Marvel normally has certain rules about what material goes into a Marvel movie and almost none are over a PG-13 rating.

You have those that break these barriers (such as Deadpool), but you also have your Suicide Squads and Birds of Prey as well when you decide to go all adult and ignore the family or other audiences.

it doesn't mean that Vox Machina is going to be a failure. Nor does Wheel of Time mean that Vox Machina is going to be a success.
The perspective gained is that the strong numbers for a Twitch stream are dwarfed by a niche show that's on the same streaming network. Lots of very online people tend to forget how popular more conventional TV is.

Yellowstone hit 14 million viewers. ncis over 13.

Again, independent Twitch show about people sitting around a table vs big budget, production, that is the best rated on a major service.

We don't know what this new show is going to do in this new medium, genre (let's be honest) and environment. the 1.4 million viewers statistic was used to counter the idea that there's no audience, not trying to push the idea it's going to be an instant hit.

I'm trying to find numbers for Invincible, which would be more comparable to this project

Speaking as someone who hasn't really been able to engage with CR in the past (mostly because of the time investment), this trailer didn't do a whole lot for me. I'll still give it a chance though.

I'm kind of 0 for 2 with fantasy television recently. Neither The Wheel of Time nor The Witcher Season 2 really captured my attention 🤷‍♂️

I've heard alot of really bad stuff about both, especially Wheel of Time which breaks my heart because I loved the Wheel of Time series. Damn Hollywood, I hope it gets it's naughty word together.
