I'm convinced by Laurefindel's arguments about Bard. He is a dragonslayer, after all. John Carter, adding another one of my childhood heroes, and one who is literally a master of a world, and the greatest swordsman in two.

Icarium has depopulated multiple cities singlehandedly, and is repeatedly afflicted with amnesia by the gods because they're afraid of what he'll do if he remembers what he is. Now that's an epic-tier fighter.

Meanwhile, Fafhrd is strong, skilled, and mostly fearless, but he's not particularly ambitious, so I'd put him a tier lower than Conan.

Moved Cugel down one because I can't remember a time he actually fights, as opposed to running away or using trickery. No way he would ever have faced the Witch King, for instance.

I'm not going to cry foul TOO hard; as noted, the elves we've got at the top of the food chain all have magic powers too, but I will quibble here. Elric is primarily a sorcerer, much as he uses that sword. As we know, he's deliberately designed to be the polar opposite of Conan. Putting him on a list of the greatest fighter-types in fiction seems off.
