I've never read the Rivers of London books, but from the art and description, it sounds like it would be great for playing in the setting of "The Nevers", a mini-series on HBO max about a bunch of people that suddenly gained superhuman abilities in Victorian England (its premise is sort of a "what if some Victorian London citizens one day suddenly gained supernatural powers, like the X-men?")

Wow (....without any sarcasm)!

I looked up 'demi-monde’ on an internet dictionary. Rivers of London could be an interesting game....

Anyway, the Jane Austin supplement for Call of Cthulhu is a good curve-ball and the The Prosopaedia looks to continue with RQ:G looking like the most spectacular RPG around.

I’m … actually kind of loving the current mini-boom in Regency-era RPG material. Good Society’s been around for a few years now, but as well as that we’ve got Unexpected Wedding Invitation and Dandies and Dandizettes crushing it on Kickstarter, and now Regency Cthulhu? Nice!

Makes me want to get serious about writing up my Regency(/Napoleonic/industrial revolution) rewrite of Ravenloft and getting it on DMsguild. Though sadly, that’ll unlikely ever happen cos DMGuild bars crowd funding and there’s nowhere else to get the art, other that fund it all myself up-front…

“It’s probably Matt Mercer’s fault.”
Tempted by Rivers of London. An article on the game development:

I love the concept, but looking at the image in that link...the one of the character sheet...I see there's a long list of fairly specific skills.

I know that's a common thing in RPGs, but I...I...I'm just not sure I want that anymore. The existence of those skills suggests they are supposed to be used, and I find myself wanting less RNG in my games, not more.

Then I thought, Wait, maybe those skills are meant to be used in a different way, more like 'traits' and less as numerically ranked skills. But then I saw this quote:

The Common Skills with universal base success percentages is a strong innovation...

Bah.

And the real kicker is that I'll probably buy it anyway.

Here's the image, for convenience:

It's a variation of BRP (Call of Chtuluh) so it is skill intensive.
