D&D 5E restart or rewrite or new?

Would you rather they restart old settings recreate them or just make new ones?

If you had the power to make WotC choices on there next few slipcase adventure/campaign settings would you rather they make whole new settings or recreate/continue old ones?

I am in the middle, I want both, but I would LOVE to have FR reset to grey box set, reset Darksun (like they did with 4e), but I think the concepts of Birthright could have an entire rebuild to be almost a new setting (but still concept).

I voted for the remake with new take but I will freely admit that I am not heavy invested in settings anyway. I am more interested in things that expand the rules. So I find some of the proposed rules in the Dragonlance UA as very interesting even though I am not too bothered by the setting. I am interested in Spelljammer but more from the way it open up planar adventures than anything specifically Spelljammer.

Mostly I want them to do new settings.

For the old settings I care about - give me new takes on them. The original material is all out on DM's Guild for people to download, and I own the physical books for most of it anyway, so if they're not going to modernize the settings and bring a fresh take to it what's the point? I can go back to my old books and mine the material that's there for my own games. It's not like they can do anything to "break" those settings - if there are things about their fresh takes I don't care for, I'll just ignore them.

For the settings I don't care about - I don't care about them :)

I can't really vote since my option is not there:

Rehash old settings into the new format/mechanics, but leave them otherwise untouched (you could scan/OCR much of the text IMO).

AND

Make new settings from scratch.

Personally, I don't want to see new takes on old settings because then you are just ruining something that someone probably loves just the way it was...

I voted “remake with a new take.” I like fresh perspectives on familiar material, and I don’t have any interest in an unimaginative rehash of what we’ve seen before. If there’s nothing new to add, don’t bother.

Edit: But I dislike the slip-case format and probably won’t buy any of them anyway.

100% this.

I'm of two minds about this. I want a setting like Planescape or Al-Qadim to be resurrected using necromancy. On the other hand, I am of the opinion that the 5th Edition products aimed at DMs are, for lack of a better term, emaciated. So, instead of selling diet versions of old settings, why not try something totally original to 5th Ed that comes with no baggage?
