D&D 5E Speculation thread! Vecna? Giants UA?

More seriously, I know. I'm just saying that I interpret the elegy to indicate that it was a real place that was shattered into the Multiverse. Maybe it's not, but until this book actually gets announced I don't think either of us can be "proven" correct.
Absolutely, but my point is that WotC probably wants to keep the First World indeterminate for DM usage.

Joking aside, I think the only reason for talking about Vecna is because of Stranger Things. And the Giants are for a monster book. Neither has anything to do with any setting books, and neither does the First World.

Hasbro knows streaming services can be very useful to promote their franchises, but 2022 is being a very busy year with M&A, and some possible bankruptcy. Some choices about marketing strategy could be delayed becuase now they can't bet for the winner horse in this race. I mean we can't know if the future D&D cartoon show will be in Netflix, Disney+ or Paramount. Maybe Hasbro bets for "don't put all eggs in only one basket".

Maybe there is later a new UA with PC races. Why not now? Because players would be too focused into the races than the subclasses and feats.

If it is a minisetting with prehistoric beasts, then they will add something with original elements, to avoid others selling their own dinosaur toys.

And in the end you might both be correct. That's the wonderful thing about myth - it comes from a world view where contradictory or nonsensical things can actually be true.

This has literally happened before... I remember we were debating the Feywild UA and I was saying "Feywild book" and Parmander "Strixhaven book" and we were both right.

Or it's a tease for a future book. Like I said, too early to tell.

The big flag for me is the Primeval subclass. It's way more dinosaur/prehistoric themed than giant to me.
Yes, a Setting book is a strong possibility here (I'llcall it "GiantLance" for now), though my gut says Supplement.

Er, no, it aint. It's purely a "you can have a giant pet" druid with an ill-fitting name. I see nothing to suggest a primeval setting is coming, and can think of a whole lot of reasons why WotC wouldn't make one.

It's way more primeval themed that GIANT themed. Has literally nothing to do with giants.
