Seriously, clowns are silly, Spelljammer is less serious than many other settings, and this fits well. RPGs are allowed to not be serious. A lot of people wind up laughing around the table at the 'serious' story anyway.

I'm with you. Seems like WotC is leaning more towards the comedic/absurd bent more than taking Spelljammer as a serious setting. Let's see how far can we push things?

I've seen enough scary clown videos pop up in my kid's Youtube watching to think scary clowns, as a trope, has definitely become a Gen Z thing. It's a good job by WotC to lean into the current zeitgeist.

I dunno if there's any generation after Boomers (or maybe even Greatest) where it isn't a thing, so I'm unsurprised to hear this, though man, sorry Gen Z had to join the club.
