Yeah, so.e people vastly underestimate how creative e the 5E combat system allows people to be.

If you mean "forces them to be due to a complete lack of creativity on the designers' part" then sure I guess.

That's because Monsters are there to die, character Classes are more important.

And it's less that they were all the same on 4E, and more that they were similarly tedious if you weren't into the Powers thing.

One person's "interesting mechanical options" are another person's tight jacket. Participants the "interesting options lead to long fights, which not everyone enjoys.

Hilarious that the anti-4e crowd whined about "all the classes are the same" (they aren't) and have no problem with all the monsters being the same.

All classes did have the same power structure in 4e until essentials. I don't think a dracholich and a goblin. I can't imagine anyone stating with a straight face that they're the same.

More like buying a car with a movie projector on the windshield. Interesting to some, perhaps, but can be distracting.
