D&D 5E What (if anything) do you find "wrong" with 5E?

Wow. Unplayable? So the guy in my game is just pretending to play a monk? One of the PCs on Critical Role is just that good an actor? My monk that I'm playing that regularly does the most damage in a round is just an illusion?

Good to know.
It’s really weird how some of this works. It’s honestly like the current attitude is you’re either perfect or the best or you suck. Monks aren’t the best ever, so they suck. I had fun playing my drunken master. I don’t know what the people bashing the monk are talking about.

sure, technically you can play a commoner with d4 HD and no features, and still have fun roleplaying.

but let see the monk;

skills: only 2, so worst amount you can get for a class, even a barbarian got a hotfix for that
HD: d8, next to worst. Monk needs d10 if not d12 for HPs
armor: next to worst again as you can get wis bonus to AC but you are seriously MAD as you need dex, con and wis, so with +1/+1/+1 floating racials you are looking at 8,16,16,8,16,8 so you can have any combat utility. Weak, dumb and ugly.

damage: this is good, as long as you got your short rests, wait this is not 4E and "short" rests are 1hr long. might get one in a day. might...

A character with 20 strength is also weaker than a peak human in our world.
But does not have the intense training our peek human has. But the fighter at very early level will take a point blank range shot of a .12 gauge and will not even break a sweat for it. And that is without body armor necessary. He might not even have a scar to prove he did that and he can do it every day with a good night's sleep. At high level, he will be able to do it multiple times everyday...

Heck, if you follow the rules, you reach terminal velocity at 20d6. So a 200 feet or a 10,000 feet means 70 points of damage on average. A fighter in my group has more than twice that amount. At least with system shock in older edition, no one would try that. Too risky.

Full heal over night is pretty much super hero for me and a lot of posters here.
Super human strength? A fighter with 20 strength is stronger than... an ogre at 19... That should say a lot.
My point.

Are 5e PCs like superheroes of movies, TV and cartoons.

They aren't tossing foes, making might leaps, zipping around the battlefield, or dazzling with raw charms.

I never got the whole superhero argument. The superheroes I grew up did stuff few D&D PC.do.

I feel like bodybuilder competitions would be way different if 'shot in the chest with a shotty' was part of the proceedings.
D&D characters are Dutch, John Rambo, John McClane, John Matrix, John Wick, (so many Johns!), Jack Reacher, James Bond, Indiana Jones, etc.. They are (debatably) human in some respects, but have tolerance to pain and injury, as well as the ability to recover from said pain and injury, that defies belief, usually after a very brief pause in the action.
