It's a kludge (at best) as written now. The old subclasses are going to need rewrites to fit the new subclass structure.

Not really. If you just grab your next subclass feature when the new writeup says you get a new subclass feature, ignoring the levels and just going in order, it works fine for most classes.

I do wonder if all classes will have the same progression, or only within each group.

I can’t imagine waiting until 3rd level to pick a sorcerous origin, for instance.

Well, he implied that all classes are normalized. I don’t think his wording leads strongly to all classes normalized together vs in groups.

Yeah me too. Some classes might need other features moved up a level to keep level 1 from being a huge mass of rules widgets all at once, but otherwise I think it’s a good fit.
