Whatever helps us eliminate the Drunken Master the fastest. If we need to eliminate all PHB subclasses before we can finally get the Drunken Master the help and treatment he desperately needs, so be it. It's weird, but...sure.
Bah. It’s a fighting style/martial arts tradition.
I just want a monk to win. Kensei(the sword saint) should have been a fighter subclass, not a monk subclass.
You could rename the monk Kensei and it would be fine. It’s a monk.

No, it’s not. It’s neither a fighting style nor a fighter. IRL it’s a title given to masters who surpass the normal level of skill of a master to attain “perfection”, which is exactly the more mundane end of what the Monk represents. It’s the perfect option for a more “martial” Monk.

If I were to rename the monk while making it less mystical by default (not at all what I’d ever do with the monk, but hypothetically) I’d probably call it the Kensei.

I've been lurking on the thread from the beginning. Probably should have logged in a page or two ago... I've played the Kensei. I love the Kensei. If we can accept someone who throws fireballs as a monk, why not someone who uses a weapon? Heck, you could make an argument that the Shadow is better suited to Rogue or Ranger.
