both reimagine the story...IE Like The Thing from the 80s is not a remake of the old black and white Thing From Another World film. They are both adaptions of a book.

the childs pay ones are fun.(same with any 80s horror remake from Halloween to Childs Play).
The Evil Dead one took a funny campy 80's movie I wore out the VHS copy I had of and made it real scary... it was a good reimagining.
wait... when they give us a new origin story for spiderman that is still peter parker spiderman that IS NOT a remake, but a movie 20 years later with all the orginal characters as older side characters and new heroes is 'practically a remake'? that seems to be a contradiction.The Force Awakens was practically a remake of A New Hope.
