WotC has shared another preview of the upcoming Dragonlance setting/adventure with a look at backgrounds and feats for Solamnic Knights and Mages of High Sorcery.

Feats include Squire of Solamnia and Initiate of High Sorcery. Interestingly, one prerequisite is "Dragonlance Campaign", which implies that the feats can't be used outside that setting.

In tabletop-only games yeah that's a non-issue.

However, if they decide to enforce it in D&D Beyond it could be. It might be that the DM has to check some box somewhere that says "Dragonlance Campaign" for a PC to be created with those Feats.

I admit that's unlikely for now, but it could be an issue in future.

That is a possibility and there may come a time where you're only allowed to play online too. I hope not in both cases.

If a major identity of the Knights is the mustaches, it does exclude female knights from that identity. Sure, you could just say women don't have that requirement, but then they are not able to participate in that aspect of knighthood. WotC has to appeal to a wide variety of individuals, including various identities of gender. Better to just avoid any symbols that designate male or female. That's not shallow thinking. It requires thinking deeply about their audience and presenting their product so that everyone can make Dragonlance their own.

Eh, not so much different than the old "men wear suits, women wear dresses" work dress code from 80's businesses. For male knights, I recall the mustache being an identifier, there could be an equivilant for females - maybe big hair, considering the source.

Anyways, I do seem to recall in the novels that the mustaches were going out of style, and for younger knights - I seem to recall Sturm Majere (Caramon's/Tika's son) eschewing the mustache as "old fashioned" and a symbol of the out-of-touch old guard. (Maybe it was a commentary on the 70's?)

I searched in Dragonlance Adventures, Tales of the Lance, Dragonlance Campaign Setting, and Knightly Orders of Ansalon. There is no mention of the Solamnic Knights to be required to have a mustache. However they are typically depicted/described with one. This means it's simply a style of choice for the solamnics.

Can folks stop perpetuating this bit misinformation?

Also, Look at Female Knight of the Rose conferring with her peers of the Crown and Sword (from Knightly Orders of Ansalon). Can we stop the sexist bit too?

Women in the knighthood is a recent thing though, and also is the acceptance of non-humans, but there is precedent. The image is taken from Knightly Orders of Ansalon, which I consider the most complete and authoritative source on the subject.

Curse of Strahd is better than VRGtR on Barovia sure, but both are fairly anemic than what came before. And the rest of your post is just fumbling about what “grognards” believe.

Nah that's not true. Curse of Strahd goes into way more detail than any of the Ravenloft books on Barovia before.

So women being allowed to be members is not even common knowledge in universe.
