This epic war story begins with an invitation to a friend's funeral and three optional prelude encounters that guide you into the world of Krynn. Amy Dallen is joined by Eugenio Vargas to share some details about how these opening preludes work and some advice on using them in your own D&D games.

There is also information on the three short 'prelude' adventures which introduce players to the world of Krynn:
  • Eye in the Sky -- ideal for sorcerers, warlocks, wizards, or others seeking to become members of the Mages of High Sorcery.
  • Broken Silence -- ideal for clerics, druids, paladins, and other characters with god-given powers.
  • Scales of War -- ideal for any character and reveals the mysterious draconians.
The article discusses Session Zero for the campaign and outlines what to expect in a Dragonlance game -- war, death, refugees, and so on.

As you said, we'll find out on the 22nd when people with early access get their hands on the digital book but I think what you're describing is far too ambitious for a 224 page adventure book. It's far more likely they'd put in that level of effort for a follow-up sourcebook, such as how they presented Ravenloft in CoS and later expanded with changes in VRGtR.
I mean I never said that I was going to get every change I want. I don't expect I will. However I am somewhat confident (especially with some of the youtube stuff) that the wind will blow in the direction I want even if the product doesn't land exactly where I want.

if what I want doesn't get done for 5e (remving the alignment restrictions or at least loosening) then what I will do is (if I buy it, if enough doesn't go my way I will just pass on it) make an alliance of free 'renegade' good wizards that will stand up to the tyranny of the towers and will in setting point out that maintaining the status quo only helps evil and is AGAINST the idea of balance.
Great, I am strongly in favor of additive change.

a great example of this was the 4e Darksun book. in 2e we had templars be of brand palidens... but 4e had warlocks and as such the 'dragon king pact' was born.
But it still meant the same thing, it was just a different mechanical expression for a different edition. They didn't change any existing lore or history (although there were parts they didn't bring up).

really? they said it was a reimagining. They labeled the continuing story as 'classic' what part of this screams retcon to you?

ANd DL 1987 and DL 2022 are going to be too
Will it be called a reimagining in the book? Because a promotional video from months ago is pretty weak sauce to me.

this is at best disingenuous, and maybe out right just lieing.

I am no outlier. YOU have already said you know that some of these changes are ones YOU expect as well... infact you are only so vocal because you know some of these changes are coming.

YOU say that I want it set up for me... all the while complaining it wont be set up for YOU
Setting it up for me doesn't require much effort. Just update the relevant mechanical bits. Just like they did for FR and Eberron before WotC decided to change how they did D&D.

it really wasn't though. I don't know many (I don't know if any) fans of the 90's darksun that thought that the 4e one was the exact same... almost everyone I know (exception for 1 guy who hated 4e anyway) that was a 90's DS fan thought that the update and reimagining went well...

TBH I think ALL settings need this done to them. Reset to the beginning with some tweeks each edition. If you want the 'continuing Forgotten Realms" you end up with the spell plague, when a reimagined grey box might have been better (I am so sick of realms shattering events and i don't even care for the setting that much)

I will have to go back but I remember them changing lore... I remember because pre it coming out people where on enworld and WotC boards screaming that nothing could change...

but you do want it set up for you... that's the thing, I want things my way you want them your way we both want DL, and only 1 gets to have it cause it can't be both ways... the closest they can come is telling you that you can take the mechanics of this new book and your old books fluff...
Just update the relevant mechanical bits. Just like they did for FR and Eberron before WotC decided to change how they did D&D.
If you go back to 4e and the begining of 5e you will find I have been pushing for updated reimagined (changed for the times) copies of all the classic settings, so I hope you are right this is a sign of things to come.
