This epic war story begins with an invitation to a friend's funeral and three optional prelude encounters that guide you into the world of Krynn. Amy Dallen is joined by Eugenio Vargas to share some details about how these opening preludes work and some advice on using them in your own D&D games.

There is also information on the three short 'prelude' adventures which introduce players to the world of Krynn:
  • Eye in the Sky -- ideal for sorcerers, warlocks, wizards, or others seeking to become members of the Mages of High Sorcery.
  • Broken Silence -- ideal for clerics, druids, paladins, and other characters with god-given powers.
  • Scales of War -- ideal for any character and reveals the mysterious draconians.
The article discusses Session Zero for the campaign and outlines what to expect in a Dragonlance game -- war, death, refugees, and so on.

too bad, I'm sorry that you getting to keep yours AND new players getting there own reimagined one hurts you. However (again) we can't make both groups happy and if it is going one way I will keep pushing for mine.

edit: and also don't pretend not to understand what the word reimagine means

Why dont you tell me what 'reimagine' means, because my understanding of how you use the word is 'retcon, sanitize, and generalize'.

And if you want a group of Good casters that oppose the ways of the Order, feel free to create it. Sounds like an interesting, and more importantly additive idea.
if what I want doesn't get done for 5e (remving the alignment restrictions or at least loosening) then what I will do is (if I buy it, if enough doesn't go my way I will just pass on it) make an alliance of free 'renegade' good wizards that will stand up to the tyranny of the towers and will in setting point out that maintaining the status quo only helps evil and is AGAINST the idea of balance.

take the concepts (so the towers, the kenders the tinker gnomes the gods left and now are about to come back the war of the lance, soth) and sit down with new eyes for 2022 (and 2024 with the new updates on the way) and take what still works and make some tweeks and take 30+ years of hindsight and change of zeitgeist and make changes.

I can't imagine how much they would have to change to make DL a general setting, it would take pages and pages of changes... but I have only suggested some tweeks here and there,

okay, but when reimagining for new world we get to make it set up anyway we want... so we need a better argument then "it's the way it used to be"

will you continue to be fine with it if WotC next week says "mostly evilish" for black robes with another more neutral description. (ambition is the example)
No, you want WotC to set it up the way YOU want. Hardly, "we".

a great example of this was the 4e Darksun book. in 2e we had templars be of brand palidens... but 4e had warlocks and as such the 'dragon king pact' was born.

As you said, we'll find out on the 22nd when people with early access get their hands on the digital book but I think what you're describing is far too ambitious for a 224 page adventure book. It's far more likely they'd put in that level of effort for a follow-up sourcebook, such as how they presented Ravenloft in CoS and later expanded with changes in VRGtR.

this is at best disingenuous, and maybe out right just lieing.

I am no outlier. YOU have already said you know that some of these changes are ones YOU expect as well... infact you are only so vocal because you know some of these changes are coming.

YOU say that I want it set up for me... all the while complaining it wont be set up for YOU

it IS a new world. Just like Marvel 616 and Marvel 1610... even though both are marvel earth.

I know you don't WANT it to be reimagined, but don't pretend you don't understand it is.
It is not being portrayed as a new world. It is a retcon that changes the existing world. That's the difference. Marvel 616 and Marvel 1610 are actually separate worlds.
