Oh, you know how it is. Demonic tieflings, shadow tieflings, and elemental tieflings are so boring and overdone and awful. But angelic tieflings are dazzling and unique! (See also: Celestial warlock, Divine Soul sorcerer, etc.)

I mean...there were so many of them. They had 100 points on the board to start with, IIRC. That's going to attract some dislike, especially when people were already annoyed about how long the list was. Tieflings were individually responsible for something like 10% of the list.
