D&D (2024) New leak looks real bad

Okay, including all content for the $30/month is frankly more than I was expecting. Granted, I’d like to see the content improve.

Apparently, there are only two tiers − all or nothing − $0 or $30-per-month.

The no-cost plan only allows "3 encounters" on the VTT. Yikes!

Also, no homebrew content for no-cost.
Who ever thought this is going to work need to be walked out of their office and thrown into the street immediately. There is no way in hell, I would be ok with this. Basically a wholesale unworkable rearrangement of my current subscription. This will cause even greater backlash then the OGL mess.

RIght now, I probably play ESO about 70-90 hours per month.

"This" has to provide me double the amount of entertainment to justify it.
That's one way of looking at it. However, people value different things in different ways. Folks buying those hockey tickets are paying around $100/month for way fewer hours than that, but seem to think it's worth it.

You don't know that. For example, my DnDBeyond Master Tier subscription is insanely good value. At $7/month I can share access to all the materials with all my players, and I run four campaigns right now, plus sponsor two more through D&D Club, so that is almost 30 players getting access to a ton of material for my $7/month. So I pay $7/month and they all have free accounts. How do you know $30/month isn't the same thing but for the VTT?

Context is everything. I can't assess any number without seeing exactly what the offer is.
Yeah need to know what's on offer first.

I suspect you misunderstand.

There is no extra content for the $30/month fee.

Presumably, like people do now, they only get the basics (which will increase to all of the 5e SRD), but still have to purchase digital books separately.

If buying hard books in addition to buying digital books, the hard books will only have a 30% discount and only as a limited-time offer after purchasing the digital books.

People continue to give Hasbro-WotC too much credit, via unwarranted assumptions that they would be decent.
