Interesting that they seem to be taking the DCC approach of "if they were creating that game today, what would it look like," but also saying the new game should be compatible with existing adventures. That seems to limit to how divergent they can really get.

But Matt is shooting for tactical and epic play, something I have yet to see. Lots of those "new" games are retreads.

You need to look around more. Start with Zweihander: brutally tactical.

That is an interesting description.

I don't play D&D, but the 4e practice of only mapping encounter areas was extremely annoying.
