But honestly with regard to Draw Steel market was envy over Dragonheart’s momentum. Plus anger over D&D so wanting Draw Steel to take a seat as a rival to it, marketing would take away the effort to introduce it to their players.

I don't feel bad about misunderstanding this one. What?

Those are all real words, but they aren't sentences! Could you maybe rephrase in a more user-friendly manner? :)

lol! I was rushed as I’m sitting with my table getting ready for our game.

I was trying to explain my guess for the many complaints of MCDM fans over the “marketing”. Draw Steel came out right after Dragonheart, and there was so much momentum for Dragonheart in comparison with Draw Steel. So, imo, I think there was some envy.

The other thing about the Draw Steel fans griping about marketing, I believe, is that there is still a lot of fans are still bitter over OGL stuff, and other things to be mad at WotC for. So fans sometimes pick their team in the drama about all of it. With the OGL mess there were a lot of announced projects so some pick their winner early on and just hope there would be marketing pushing their choice. There was almost nothing in comparison to what everyone was seeing get for Dragonheart. So with little communication coming from MCDM, lots of folks let their imagination run wild with anger that Draw Steel was being let to wither.

Daggerheart had the slight advantage of 10 years of the most popular actual play show in the world.

I love me some Uncle Matt videos, but Playing the Game isn't even in the same ballpark, reach-wise, as Critical Role.

I think the major complaint with the marketing was that there was a fair bit of it surrounding the original kickstarter, but that in the period following it most of the communication about the game seems to have been via Patreon which, by its very nature, is preaching to the converted. In retrospect, it seems they were keeping their powder dry for the Crack the Sun crowdfunder instead of blowing it on the core game.
