Kulan: Knightfall's Heroes of Carnell Game [IC]

Seeing the two opponents near him expire, Caerth immediately looks for the remaining enemies. Finding Quinn prone between two of them, the druid sprints towards the closest one, spear already leveled and ready to stab.

With his momentum, Caerth manages to pierce the creature's undead flesh deeply, no doubt drawing its attention away from the fallen gladiator.

OOC: Spear attack: 1D20+13 = [5]+13 = 18
for 1D8+7 = [8]+7 = 15 piercing damage

Wow, I'm really rolling high for damage this combat! :)
While at first Caerth's spear thrust seems to penetrate the undead wolf's hide, it instead slides across the beast's sickly skin and does no damage. The wolf keeps it focus on Quinn.

Phar takes a step back from the undead wolf and casts another spell. He fires off five magical force missiles; three strike the ghoulish wolf next to him and the other two slam into the other beast.

Aureus waits for Phar to step back before she fires at the wolf closest to her and Phar. Her first shot is a grazing hit, while her second sticks in the tree on the other side of Quinn.

Angus moves in between Litrix and Aureus and knocks the dead tree over onto the ground. He brings his sword down on the other undead wolf menacing Quinn and strikes a powerful blow.

The wolf snarls and changes its focus from the prone fighter to the centaur ranger. It tries to bite Angus's neck but the burly centaur raises his shield to block the bite. "Nay, beastie, nay!

While the other undead wolf seems focused on Quinn, it surprises Caerth by quickly turning and biting the half-orc druid for another grievous wound. Caerth crumbles to the ground.

NO!

Maur rushes toward the fallen druid, but he knows they need to end the threat quickly. He moves directly toward the wolf and at the last moment he flickers and appears behind it, the hammer already swinging. It connects with extra power he put into it...but again, its flanges don't catch on the rotten flesh. Powerful, but not nearly as good as it could be.

"Caerth! Quinn! Litrix! Hold on!"

The blow shifts the ghoulish wolf's focus from Caerth to the dwarven champion. It growls at Maur. There is an intense malice in its glowing eyes.

Quinn senses a chance to get to his feet. He uses Cruel Justice as a makeshift shield against the wolf in between him and Maur and scrambles up to his feet. The undead wolf manages to bite the gladiator-knight once again, but Quinn stays on his on his feet and slashes out with Cruel Justice.

"Damn beast!"

OOC: Quinn is fighting defensively this round: +2 to AC, -4 to hit. He provokes one AoO from the DGW in between him and Maur. I made a mistake earlier in the combat when I gave the DGW an AoO when Quinn moved. You can't make AoOs through cover. My bad.

Quinn has AC 17 vs. the wolf.

DGW - AoO vs. Quinn (AC 17): 1D20+14 = [5]+14 = 19 (hit)
2D6+12 = [5, 5]+12 = 22

DGWs - Trip vs Quinn: 1D20+8+4 = [6]+8+4 = 18
Quinn - Strength check vs. trips: 1D20+3 = [19]+3 = 22 (success)

Quinn's Attack: 1D20+15+2 = [8]+15+2 = 25 (hit)
1D6+5+2 = [5]+5+2 = 12

Aureus moves to Caerth's side while avoiding the snapping jaw of the undead wolf. She says a prayer to Vaflar and heals Caerth with a spell that will stabilize her friend.

Phar takes a step back again and decides to try to finish off both of the wolves with his last scorching ray spell for the day. The first ray goes wild and burns the ground in front between the elfen wizard and the undead wolf. The second ray slams into the other wolf on the other side of Angus. Phar barely manages to get the second ray off, as he stumbles over a loose rock. He fall on his butt, but all that is hurt is his pride.

"Well, that didn't go the way I was hoping," he mutters.

Litrix grits his teeth...at least mentally since his mouth still stays in the same position as when he was bitten. He hates every bit of this situation.
Litrix can only watch and listen helplessly as the half-orc druid falls to the ground under the teeth of the undead wolf.

Angus, enraged, brings his sword down on the wolf next to him and Litrix and tries to slam his shield into the beast as well. The wolf manages to avoid the shield but not the centaur ranger's next sword stike. The ghoulish wolf is cut in two and leaves a deathly stink on the ground.

"No more of you, beastie!"

The last undead beast tries in vain to bite down on Quinn, but with the gladiator-knight now on his feet, he is able to avoid the wolf's teeth.

Maurs armor plates lock together as he takes a stance in front of the beast. Calling on Moradins hatred of evil things, he smites the undead with a terrible blow. Bones crunch as the hammer comes for the second pass, the grace of god leaving it on the way. But Maurs skill is not divine, the precision is engrained in the days, decades, of training and the second blow runs the wolf into the ground.

OOC: 45 damage, hopefully enough?

The combined blows crush the ghoulish wolf into a gory mess. The splatter hits Quinn on the other side of sundered beast.

"It's like being back in the arena, but the smell is worse," He nods to Maur. He looks to Aureus and the unconscious Caerth. "How is he?"

"He's stable," she replies. She looks at Maur. "He's going to need your help."

"I'm going to need you to call upon Moradin for me, as well, my friend," Quinn says to Maur. He looks back to Litrix. "I hope he won't be like that for long."

It doesn't take long for the paralysis to wear off and Litrix is soon able to move again.

OOC: More than enough, and then some more. Heh.
