I continue to advocate for equal opportunity sexiness art. With the previously noted caveat that few male artists seem to know how to draw attractive men vs powerful men. Conan is not drawn to be attractive, he's drawn to be powerful, regardless of him wearing little more than a loincloth. There was a good example of a piece of 40k Guardsman art that I saw and immediately knew was drawn by a woman, because the character was rendered and posed in a way that made him clearly intended to be attractive. Without showing much skin, mind.
Edit: the artwork in question:

This is 40K?? Oh god get me off this ride.

Oh, the rest of the art in the series is very traditional 40k art. They just randomly decided to go hard with sexy guardsman for this picture, and I personally find it in fantastic contrast to the rest of the art. Dour grimdark, dour grimdark, dour grimdark, "How you doin'?", dour grimdark...

That has to be out of one of the RPG's right?

In all seriousness, in an era where any 12 year old can type "naked women/man" into Google and get all the images they could ever want, as well as scantly clad actors in movies, TV shows, video games and whatever other media is available, I don't see how a scantly clad drawing could cause real harm.

Now, are such drawings necessary in an RPG? No, of course not.

Personally, I don't remember seeing any provocative drawings (e.g. chainmail bikini) in any major RPGs in quite a while.

So Boris Vallejo signed bad but Julie Bell signed good?
If so what about the stuff they did together?

My point is claiming it is/comparing it to women empowerment... when the art is done by men makes no sense. You want to get into nitpicks about corner case scenarios...well my answer would be case by case basis.

While I like the Juan Diaz models, there's no way I'd ever use them in a public venue. i.e. I could not take them to my local game store and use them in a Warhammer tournament. There are kids around!

I know right, wont someone think of the children?

Nope! One second, I'll see if I can find it again... it was originally discovered by one of my friends who's a hardcore 40k orker.
Book series called Gaunt's Ghosts. Trying to reference exactly where the picture is from in the series, not having a ton of luck so far. Apparently it's one in a series of character portraits for the series.

Thx.
What I feel needs kept in mind, is that a whole lot of artists work on commission without the freedom to choose subject.
For me, in these cases I find it hard to determine the validity of empowerment right or wrong since the details of the work were chosen by another party somewhere in the publishing house.

Ah here it is.

Yeah some pretty heavy "one of these things is not like the others" vibes. :D
