Now that we have Spelljammer, and soon Planescape . . . . what will be CONFIRMED going forward? Dark times ahead . . . .
I love AD&D 2e nostalgia as much as anyone in the over-40 contingent, but I honestly wouldn't mind seeing some new settings on offer. And no, the Magic: the Gathering based books don't count. I want a new-new setting, one purpose built for D&D the way Eberron was that can enable new campaign types and character styles.

Because I honestly don't think they're going to move on Dark Sun or Greyhawk any time soon. And the D-list of Birthright and Ghostwalk and the rest are right out. So they may have to take the risk and do something entirely new. At least, that's my hope.

I suspect Vecna is going to be responsible of a megaevent, and next to this the Sundering in Forgotten Realms was only a tipically fight in a tavern.

Vecna was in Sigil and he caused serious troubles, and the reboot of D&D multiverse from 2nd to 3rd Ed.

That would be cool, but WotC isn't about taking risks.

Well, that's stuff I already knew and disappointing.
I guess except for the Minecraft. My wife will like that.
Where had you heard about these previously? I missed it if they were mentioned elsewher.
  • World-hopping adventure involving Vecna in 2024.
  • Something involving the Red Wizards of Thay in 2025.
  • Venger and the League of Malevolence from the D&D Cartoon/Wild Beyond the Witchlight.

Looks like the plan to expand it over the next 5 years. Remember, along with the Spellweavers & Netherese, Vecna was responsible for the Obilesks.

They make it clear that there is going to be much more of a metaplot going forward, somewhat MtG style, that will tie Planescape & other settings with Vecna, Red Wizards including that cartoon dude, and the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, er I mean The League of Malevilence (the single most comic book supervillian sounding name in D&D history) in multiverse spanning plots that all connect. I assume the Obilesks are heavily connected to all this as well.

Interestingly no mention of new setting books so far, just yearly advetures, Vecna, Red Wizards, and the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, damn did it again 🤣😈
@Micah Sweet , this seems to suggest that WotC is still very interested in lore, but maybe not the lore your interested in (or the amount you want)!
