Fearless, nimble steps and fey ancestry. That is impossible if I read it correctly.
How so? Fearless and Fey Ancestry deal with two completely different conditions- Frightened and Charmed. As for Nimble Steps, it just means your character could move through a space that is occupied by someone bigger than them.

Because it is not allowed by LevelUp A5e mixed heritage rules as I read it.

I don't know why you are trying to explain why that should work logically. That was never in question and the source of the problem for my "complaint" about the LevelUp A5e rule.

To do this properly you would essentially be creating your own Level Up heritage, with a unique set of traits and gifts. Which I have zero problem with, and have done many times in my Level Up campaign.

Yeah. And also possible in D&D 5e. I can make up stuff there too. And I encourage everyone to do the same.

It is really not that difficult to create a well balanced species by using traits from other species.

Okay. (hug) I wasn't trying to explain why they should work logically. I was wondering why you thought they were impossible to be together. If you wanted to create an Elfling race that have those commonly shared traits, there is nothing stopping you from doing so.

And IMO WotC should be encouraging this over creating a flat rule that clearly gets folks up in arms.
They have still time to correct this. I hope they do.
Being up in arms before anything is settled is premature, unreasonable and not helpful at all.
Reading the thread on twitter, it was a jumbled mess of misrepresentating statements and OGL hurt feelings and general WotC and everyone there is evil...

I really have no understanding for that kind of behavior, although I can understand why some people take offense in the current rule iterarion and want it changed.

I sometimes wonder how much of WotC putting their feet in their collective mouths is them attempting to desperately avoid giving us a peek behind the curtain so that they can continue to profit by only supporting "Official" ancestries, that they then get to use to sell people the next Xanathar's or Tasha's or whatever.
