D&D (2024) New One D&D Playtest Includes 5 Classes & New Weapon Mastery System

Barbarian, Fighter, Sorcerer, Warlock, and Wizard

The latest playtest packet for One D&D has just landed, and features five classes (Barbarian, Fighter, Sorcerer, Warlock, and Wizard) and the new Weapon Mastery system.

In this new Unearthed Arcana document for the 2024 Core Rulebooks, we explore material designed for the next version of the Player’s Handbook. This playtest document presents the rules on the Weapon Mastery property, updates to weapons, new and revised spells, several new feats, and five classes: Barbarian, Fighter, Sorcerer, Warlock, and Wizard. You will also find an updated rules glossary that supercedes the glossary of any previous playtest documents.

Well, I don't know what to you tell you. It was made clear when they released 3.5 that you could still use 3E material with it, and when they released Essentials they said you could use it hand-in-hand with the standard 4E game.
how often did you see 3.0 haste in 3.5? Did official play allow it? (Maybe I missed that living Grayhawk announcement)
And I'm fairly certain they've said they were going to give bits and bobs upon the release of the 2024E game that would allow someone to change the 2014E subclass level format to work with the 2024E level format.
I"m really not up to this argument again.

I'm hoping for illusionist, abjurer and necromancer (not my cup of tea but it's a very popular concept) to exist in some way. Arcane Ward is one of my favourite class abilities.
I hope for evoker, abjurer, necromancer and conjurer, which always has been my favorite kind of wizard.

We mixed and matched 3E and 3.5. It was fun and easy.

I have brought in a lot of new gamers over the years (about 10, without sitting down and racking my brain) and they all looked at the warlock and their eyes crossed.

It's OK to have more complex classes. But warlocks are definitely among the least-friendly to new players.
That's okay. Not all classes need to be friendly to new players. There are tons of easy classes to play.
