WotC may have sent the Pinkertons to a magic leakers home. Update: WotC confirms it and has a response.

Would you have believed WoTC if their statement included their version of events? For example, if they said, "This is not what happened. What actually happened is that Pinkerton agents knocked on the door and asked for Mr. Cannon. They waited outside. When Mr. Cannon came to the door they were let in by Mr. and Mrs. Cannon."
Would you believe the WoTC statement?
That would work better, at least to me. That’s a positive assertion of what happened. It’s direct and unambiguous.

It’s also falsifiable. WoTC has more reputation on the line in making such a statement.

You'll be landing first. And not graceful like that.
Squirrels are very graceful.

I'm not creating anything. The concept of intellectual property implies that someone who creates something has some form of ownership over that thing. Of course the concept of an "idea" is difficult to pin down and define legally, but property is easier. If something can be property, then taking it without permission is theft.

There are some people who say that property is theft. And that would apply to intellectual property too. But that is generally people who don't have any.

But corporations are not "faceless" are they? That is just pejorative used to justify irrational prejudice, just like lots of other hate speech words. The truth is a corporation is a collection of individuals. Individuals created the art on those magic cards. Individuals wrote those rules. Individuals who depend on the corporation to pay their salaries, individuals who will suffer if the corporation is harmed.
Exactly.

WoTC stated it contradicted what was on the report by Pinkerton in their response. Was that not enough detail then?

Would rather not wade through this thread. Can you link this statement?

Magic 'Raid' Wasn't the First Time Wizards of the Coast Hired Pinkertons [UPDATED]

"In an email exchange with io9, Cannon confirmed the statements he made on the video and added additional context, stating that “as soon as my wife answered the door they aggressively asked for me by my full name… announced themselves as the Pinkerton Agency (which I am very familiar with their reputation), and said they were there to recover ‘stolen goods’.” After his wife asked them to wait outside, Cannon says that they “forced themselves” at least partially through the door and prevented her from closing the door all the way. When Cannon eventually got to the door he says he “assertively moved everyone outside” and told the agents that they needed to treat the Cannons with more respect. “They did eventually dial it back and become more civil after that,” he says. At some point, Cannon alleges, the treatment by the agents made his wife cry.

Wizards of the Coast says it “strongly refutes this depiction of events, which contradicts both the report from the investigation as well as the conversation between the individual and the Wizards of the Coast representative after the interaction in question.” The company also stated that “under no circumstances would we instruct any employee or contracted agency to intimidate an individual.”

And the quote can be found below Cannon's video in the article.

So yeah, he was apparently able to have a civil conversation with the WoTC rep, but Pinkerton employees were threatening and intimidating this guy and his wife. I'm calling fish sticks.

Aggressively asked for me by my full name... okay. What does that even mean? How is this something to be upset about? Walk to the door like an adult and ask what is happening. At this point, your lawsuits need to be in your pockets... but this is douchey behaviour on the part of the investigators. Calm down, bros. When I get to the door here, my reaction is to ask bros to settle down... talk like adults. Let's move on...

Prevented the wife from closing the door (unsubstantiated, but circumstantial evidence that some form of this, however mild, occurred). Not good. Another 'calm down bro' moment. It sounds though, like there was someone more sensible on scene who was able to defuse the situation. But that should not have happened.

Familiar with their reputation... from a video game. This is a calm down bro moment from the other side. To legitimately think that someone is going to show up at your door because you have knowingly appropriated ill-gotten goods about a card game then... shoot up the place? Get a grip.
announced themselves as the Pinkerton Agency (which I am very familiar with their reputation)
