Unless the group doesn't treat the DM as in charge and acts as a group. The group cant stop bad behaviour unless the DM does.
The group could be entirely against a fellow PC murdering them in their sleep, but unless the DM also cares it's totally moot.
Get it yet? It's the DMs responsibility. The buck stops with him (or her).
Okay, here's the plot:Ergh. Nice way to avoid the question. Not.
OK. A vile monstrous PC has died, and the PCs are later tasked to recover his soul from the afterlife. He had LG on his character sheet when he was killed.
What plane do they look to for his spirit; the Nine hells, or the Seven Heavens?
There are two things here. First, it was vastly more common in the past, pretty ubiquitous back in the '80s, rather less so nowadays. Secondly, its a behavior type that arises DUE TO THE WAY THE GAME IS RUN. So if you are trying to 'punish' or 'educate' players, YOU ARE FOCUSING ON THE WRONG PART OF THE TABLE. Got it?Yeah. And that's the exact behavior the OP is concerned about and wishes to correct, and the exact behavior that Im talking about, and the exact behavior that I (as DM) correct when I see it.
The stuff you first said 'almost never happens' and now are saying 'more or less happens in every single group at some point or another'.
My position is the same as it ever was and anyone else on this thread can clearly see it. This stands on its own.
This is not about insulting anyone. I've been, most of my neighbors come from, there's nothing wrong with the place, but its very different from the US.

And frankly I seriously doubt that either you nor @bloodtide are for real. This has to be an act. I mean, you're all just yanking people's chains. I disbelieve that you have ever GMed an RPG of any sort whatsoever (at least in any way shape or form similar to what is portrayed here). How are we now? You're not covering yourself in glory with these posts mate.

I mean, you CLEARLY REQUIRE TEACHING, that's my response! If you seriously espoused the attitudes put forth on this thread, I can only conclude that your GMing skills are essentially non-existent. Maybe at an actual table you come across differently, but you'd last about 5 seconds in any game I am associated with. Heck, you'd never get in at all.God of Gods Daddy DM!!!
How dare you moral police me! That's not your job to tell me how to engage in the social contract of the table. You're interfering with my agency! All I wanted to do was murder the rest of the PCs and take their loot!
In all seriousness, explain to me now how you doing the above is NOT teaching someone the game?
