D&D (2024) Do you think they will add more races to PHB2024 to make up for dropping other stuff?

They're certainly emphasizing the new art and errata, and de-emphasizing any substantial differences with the current books.
Are they? Where? I don’t think I’ve seen that. Certainly earlier in the process, when the predominant narrative was “this is obviously 6e, or at least 5.5e, backwards compatibility is a lie,” they made a point of clarifying that it was not the case. Now the narrative has swung completely in the opposite direction, and turned into “it’s just glorified reprints, nothing is changing that couldn’t have been done with errata,” and that’s no more accurate than the previous narrative was. It’s almost like they’ve been telling us exactly what this product would be all along, and people are so desperate to disbelieve them that they’ve completely flipped the script on how WotC is allegedly lying about it.

What if they had kept the "bolder changes"? Would that have changed what the product is?

There would be some risk if they did so. If they kept too many of the bolder changes and no one liked them, they would have another 4e situation on their hands. The last thing WoTC would want is a portion of the D&D fan base seeking an alternative and bolstering a rival work's popularity. That's how we got Pathfinder. ;) And now Level Up.

Goliaths are moving to PHB '24, with what like 8 varieties?
Orcs are moving to PHB'24, replacing Half-Orc
Half-elf is dropped
Aasimar added as well, right?

That's a lot of new species material, plus some of the species have variants that used to be in other books that are now in the PHB. For people who want more core species you'll be really happy.

Are we all just going to ignore the changes that have stuck, such as reworked origin system, orcs and Goliaths being added to the PHB, revised feats and spells, revised rules glossary, revised class and subclass features, multiple new subclasses, and weapon masteries? And that’s a non-exhaustive list of changes we know are making it in to the PHB; there’s still three PHB packets to go, and some number of DMG and MM packets.

Like, I get that people are super disappointed that a lot of bolder ideas didn’t make the cut. But this narrative that’s developing about the 2024 core books being just reprints with some new art and errata is simply not accurate.
There are changes I like. The Weapon Mastery Tiefling and Goliath (if it's the giant subtype) stuff alone is great.

If they can go back to a tone I find palatable I would probably be happy.
