D&D (2024) Do you think they will add more races to PHB2024 to make up for dropping other stuff?

Fair point. I don’t know that they will worry too much about that. They can rely on the “new and updated” labeling, the fact that is now the “current” edition, along with a slew of new art and new organization to drive sales. There have been reports of a lot of money being spent on art, plus all this “are they using AI art?” discussions. Companies all across the TTRPG space are constantly putting out new editions with minimal rules changes and just new art. Most of the time, players of those games PREFER that to the alternative of lots of changes.
You'd think they'd prefer to not re-buy their books if they're aren't substantial changes to them. I'll never understand consumers.

I miss aardlings already. Aasimars are so basic.
Tieflings also used to have way less choice of how they were depicted. The solution there isn't to just replace aasimars. Instead they should get way more variety in their appearances and origins. That includes animals heads like numerous celestials have.

Bonus points if you make your aasimar have 7 eyes like a biblically accurate angel.

The eyes have it? ;)

Are we all just going to ignore the changes that have stuck, such as reworked origin system, orcs and Goliaths being added to the PHB, revised feats and spells, revised rules glossary, revised class and subclass features, multiple new subclasses, and weapon masteries? And that’s a non-exhaustive list of changes we know are making it in to the PHB; there’s still three PHB packets to go, and some number of DMG and MM packets.

Like, I get that people are super disappointed that a lot of bolder ideas didn’t make the cut. But this narrative that’s developing about the 2024 core books being just reprints with some new art and errata is simply not accurate.

To be fair, it's kind of their narrative, regardless of what actual changes their making.

No, they are just dropping stuff, not adding more races is in line with that
They are adding Goliath. That scored well.

Basically replacing the half elf, since there is now generic half-race rules (i.e. pick your race features, and pick your looks).

And the stat boost are flexible now (i.e from the background).

So that opens up some options, like half-tiefling half-halfling paladins.

Not really. Their narrative is that it isn’t a new edition. That’s not the same thing as being the same books with some new art and errata.
They're certainly emphasizing the new art and errata, and de-emphasizing any substantial differences with the current books.
