Quinn stays focused on the eggs for several moments. He casually listens to the ongoing conversation. His mind is still thinking about what he has discovered about his family in these ruins.

"I am glad to get rid of those spid.. .. .. What is that SMELL?!?!"

Litrix readies Morsus Draconis to cut whatever undead creature rushes out at him or his companions.
No attack comes. It seems very odd. Litrix and hear and smell the undead, but there is no sight of them. Then, dragonblooded anointed knight hears a low hissing sound and what sounds like eating.

“Perhaps we could use the egg as a trap. In any case,”

Phar readies the material components for haste.
Phar is able to get out his spell components without any worries. Wherever the ghasts are located, they either don't consider the group a threat or are occupied by something else. The paragon elf hears the hissing sound and then gnashing of teeth. Another loud hiss echoes through the ruins. The undead creatures are not even trying to be quiet.

"I don't like this," Aureus says nervously as she nocks an arrow and waits for the others to take the lead.

Phar pulls out a piece of licorice and bites it as he pronounces magical words. His stomach burbles for a moment* and then everyone feels much faster.

"We should move now...something strange is happening - I think they are feeding on something!"

+1 attack rolls, +2 dodge bonus to AC and Reflex saves
+30 foot enhancement bonus to speed (up to double your movement)

This affects up to 12 people, so I'll hit up the familiars as well. I don't think Shouza is within 30 feet so I can't get her.

"We left druids body back there! Maybe it's a trick of the sound? And we're again spread out." Litrix sounds unsure of himself for the first time he's with the group.
"Let's check. And keep together!"

Phar's spell soon has everyone buzzing with extra energy.

Caerth keeps his focus on what he can see and hear while Aureus moves slowly into the ruined hall in an arc with her bow ready to fire, stepping carefully through the broken wall. She still cannot see the undead creatures.

She looks at both Phar and the half-orc druid and shakes her head.

"They are down below," Quinn hisses while pointing at the grates, "maybe eating spiders"
"Or maybe something is eating the ghasts!"
Aureus freezes in place. She hadn't considered that the ghasts might be in the grates. She holds her position next to one of the columns and waits for the others to move forward.

"Let's check. And keep together!"
Litrix's voice booms throughout the ruins of the temple as he moves into the corridor towards the exit. Aureus gives the dragonblooded knight a stern look. She had been trying to be stealthy. She stares at the ceiling and growls in frustration. "Too much noise," she whispers to herself.

Caerth considers Litrix's worry and begins to worry himself. He makes a hooting sound to tell Screech to go check to see if the sealed doors have been opened or breeched. He doubts they have been, but it is something to consider. The owl, who had been silently perched nearby, hoots back and flies back up the corridor and out to land on the corner of the Stratesus' Chamber. All is calm. The owl hops over to the building's skylight and peers inside. Nothing looks disturbed. The owl flies quickly back to perch on Caerth's shoulder and hoots softly in his ear.

"The chamber is still sealed," he whispers to Litrix. "We do not need to worry."

A sound makes Aureus tense up. She looks back towards the far southeastern corner of the ruins. She can hear something moving from that direction. The undead aren't trying to be quiet. There is a loud hissing noise. It could be a warning or challenge. Then, there are more eating sounds.

Aureus' eyes adjust to the darkness of the hall and the shadows cast by the light streaming in through the broken skylight and other parts of the ruins where the walls have crumbled. She can see shadows dancing against the walls and along the floor, but just normal shadows. She can just around the corner into the hidden hallway, only the first 5 feet. Nothing moves but shadows.

She looks back at the others and, once again, points emphatically towards the southeast.

"Come, be the feast...," a hissing voice pierces the gloom. "Yesss..."

Aureus still sees nothing by flickering light and shadow.

 

Caerth hears the voice and knows that he sound have trusted Aureus' sense. He moves to follow her into the hall. He holds off using wildshape until he knows what the group is facing. Yes, it smells similar to Tarrak, but there is something distinctly different to it. He unsholuders his bow and whistles for Screech to go and hide somewhere safe. The half-orc druid strides boldly out past Aureus into the hall and takes aim towards where she is pointing.

"Come out creature!" Caerth yells a challenge. "You are a stain on nature and the history of this place! We will purge you from this sacred ground!"

The voice hisses and then laughs. "Maybe you will, or maybe you become more food for our clan. We shall see which of usss is strong, but you will come to usss."

OOC: Caerth moves south 30 feet and then 5 feet southeast while drawing his bow.

Phar whispers across to Cearth,

"Ready an arrow and I will bestow upon it a nimbus of light."


If Cearth is readying, he can shoot into the darkness when I cast light...if he wants.

"Let's go then. If they think they can get a better position there, they are in for some surprise."
Litrix speaks quietly to the group.
"Let's use the same positioning, Angus anchoring the middle, Maur and I will take front flanks and Quinn will protect the back or join forward if his chain..."
he looks at the warrior who drew Star Arm.
"...or you can take the flank, I'll guard the back, Quinn. Let's go! Keep together, in step with Maur."

The marshal motions for Angus to lead the way and waits to see Quinns decision before taking his own position either to the right of Angus or behind Phar.
