Meanwhile, many have complained in these forums and elsewhere that "subraces" are an inherently racist concept. It is already the reason why 5e lacks Human subraces.
I mean even irl, humans don't have subspecies. Even the most distantly related humans are more closely related than even the siblings of many other species.

Humans lack genetic diversity due to a previous population bottleneck.

Then why are they pushing their new versions of the old settings they own so hard lately? Why the Multiverse?

Doesn't the Multiverse go back to 2e and 3e?

Why wouldn't they update existing IP and push it? When haven't they done that? (How many big changeovers has FR had over the decades?)

You said they want us to make our own worlds. An endless stream of APs somewhat speaks against that.

In theory, yes. But they seem to be generating a lot of content they expect people to use and talk about (if the marketing is anything to judge by).

Which? Adventure books are self contained. Perfectly fine, usable, digestible content and unlike a FULL setting book, once its consumed?

"When's the next release WotC?"

The 'multiverse' conceit, however gives Wizards a big out and gives people the 'permission' to rewrite any lore they like.

"Oh thats only how it is THERE, not everyone is like that."

Right, but that has nothing to do with elves, dwarves, or any other fictional species.

I guess I just can't be optimistic where WotC is concerned. That meeting about D&D being "undermonitized" really stuck with me, and the OGL of course made it worse. I no longer expect them to take any action that doesn't directly lead (from their perspective) to their shareholders making more money, and any other benefit is nice but unimportant to them.

They support the narrative of the DIY DM that makes their own setting and adventures. They don’t discourage their products from being modified to fit particular tables’ needs. But they aren’t targeting those DMs and tables with marketing or product development.

The default D&D player is assumed to be a D&D Beyond user who plays at tables that are running one of the current adventures.
