Calling an entire species evil is the definition of black and white thinking, and the opposite of nuance. It is literally the least nuanced character work you can do - an entire species as a stereotype.

Nuance would be treating individuals as individuals and considering their character and personality in light of all of their circumstances and idiosyncrasies. Like good writers do.

What they did to the Dueger is enough to show you how boring current WoTC is, it doesn’t matter how much older you are than me lol. I don't think pre-5e was nuanced, and I don't think the current direction is either. They're both black and white takes but in opposite directions.

it's gone from black and white to highly bleached grey and white, one or the other might be more in line with someone's tonal preferences but neither is more nuanced than the other because of that.

Indeed. - characterized by subtle shades of meaning or expression.

Nothing post tasha's is subtle. Other than Wizards attempts to skirt around the various bits of lore they dont want to own anymore without outright denying it, like they did with the Duergar or Orcs for a few examples.

There is nothing subtle, nothing nuanced in saying 'everyone is good and great and heroic'. Its a change FROM nuance, to a definitive 'you are all heros doing heroic things for heroic purpose'.

Which is FINE. 100%.

Just dont claim its nuanced, because like you say, words have meaning and we dont need another person in this thread trying to redefine words.

'Every species is exactly the same and equal in every way' is the opposite of nuanced. It's just as bad as 'Every member of this species is identically evil and dumb with no outliers or variation at all'.
