Nothing within the text would indicate that Tiefling are anything but Good, full stop. If Tiefling can be Evil, please outline any Evil, or negative, or even ambiguous text from the description provided.
I dont think a four-sentence narrative needs to. It would be weird if a four-sentence description of the Human species did.

Those other Humanoid species who "trust" the Tiefling are also "Any" alignment.

Just like there are criminal Humans, there are also criminal Tieflings. This is true of any Humanoid species.

Relatedly, I feel the nomenclature should capitalize the "Any" alignment, in the same way that it capitalizes the other Alignments, like Lawful or Chaotic. At this point, "Any" functions as a technical descriptor of the alignment tendency of a species.

So 5e has eleven alignments, the traditional nine including True Neutral, plus Unaligned, plus Any.

An individual cannot be Any alignment, but the groups that the individual is a member of can be Any alignment.

It would have been as simple as saying "and some Tiefling who joined the Fiends of their own free will" but no, it isnt in the text is it?

No, can't let that idea slip through.

I dont think the narrative needs to.

You are 100% correct. It doesnt need to at all.

Lets just stop pretending that the direction of the game is nuanced, and accept and embrace the fact its changed in the last several years. There has been a shift in how the game is presented, it is not 'nuanced'. Its is a kinder, softer, and generally more 'Good' and 'Positive' in tone.

This is fine. I dont understand why people deny it when its plainly obvious.

It is nuanced because in this thumbnail sketch all of the possible alignments remain open, and 2024 can have various Backgrounds in regional settings that detail any criminal organizations (Evil factions) where some Tieflings are prominent.

Cosmopolitan cults of evil legacy gods. Maybe some undead. And actual demons (probably). That's about it as far as bad guys are concerned. And even they aren't allowed to actually do anything evil on-camera, they can just have evil plans and look scary.
This is wildly hyperbolic. Are there specific forms of evil the developers are choosing not to portray? Absolutely. But reading through a recent book like Radiant Citadel it's quite easy to find examples of unambiguously evil characters doing unambiguously evil things. It's also easy to find examples of scenarios with more complex and nuanced moral dynamics.

The text is unquestionably good. It presents no example, description, or outline, of anything other than "Good".

There is without question, zero nuance in the description as actually written by Wizards.

In fact, it does exactly what other descriptions have been slandered for, for YEARS.

It paints 1 and 1 picture only, with no example of anything that could be seen as something other than "Good". For all the spilled ink and wasted key strokes over how 'No Good Drow is described!' here we have the opposite.

Zero.
Nuance.

Anti-Fiend doesnt mean "Good".

It can mean normal and humanlike.

In other words, Any alignment.

If a description was obsessed with describing any peoples as "Evil" within a four-sentence description of that people, I would assume some racist wrote that description.

How should one describe the Human species within four sentences? Should the word Evil appear?

Neither should it appear in the four sentence description of any other Humanoid species.
