Because WotC isn't D&D. They did that intentionally in 2000. They can never be D&D again. They are just a steward now. And not a great one lately.

It is simple: you can love D&D, and even 5E particularly, and not like WotC design, marketing and/or business practices. This is important and i want people to understand it.
I'm pretty sure we do by now.....

I'd love a PDF...but dndbeyond is more useful as it adds stuff to the monsters, pc options (not in this case, I think), etc......
Sure. Especially if you are going to use the software like the character sheet and encounters. Or AboveVTT or even the maps.

But I hate the search. I dislike having to be on line or I gotta use the app. I dislike not being able to truly limit sources. Cut and paste from it is terrible. And printing from it isn’t great either.

And if I’m not super interested in the software all the rest of that is a pain.

agreed on all points. I'd like both, but I'm not sure I want to pay for both....

Oh and it works entirely different from everything else I have.

Saw comments on the video (a mistake in of itself) but I feel people have gotten really stupid. People calling it a microtransaction or cut content, apparently don't remember how RPG setting books and supplements work.
You could find a way to say this that wouldn't insult people, so they think about what you said.....

Yes, the shift to Beyond is a Bad Thing IMO.
I don't use Beyond, but it seems basically inevitable at this point, particularly if they continue with decent offerings at a reasonable price (there is the big If, but WotC is actually fairly clever about pricing the market).

Indeed, with the Tal'Direi book being on Beyond and the hint thst one Kickstarter may go up, probably WotC is going to turn Beyond into the industry standard marketplace.

Would they complain ifnWotC released ot as a $25 softcover...? Probably.
