I mean, if we are looking for a multifaceted portrayal of indigenous characters with depth, maybe (just maybe) we should be looking at Reservation Dogs and not Yellowstone?

Not to put to fine a point on it, but one is about indigenous characters, written and directed by indigenous people, and starring indigenous people, and the other is about ... well, let's just say that it is starring Kevin Costner, Klly Reilly, and Cole Hausner, and written by Taylor Sheridan.

(That's not to say that Yellowstone doesn't do a creditable job in its portrayal, but I wouldn't exactly hold it up as the gold standard.)
All that, and Reservations Dogs is absolutely fantastic and you should watch it because it is one of the best shows of the past decade, in any genre.

Funny how Brie Larson can't carry a movie but apparently carried Captain Marvel to 79% positive critic rate and an over $1 billion world-wide box office. 🤷‍♂️
Pretty bad my aunt Fanny.

Think the velief these days is that's because when it came out(between IW/Emdgane), marketing (they implied it mattered) and it left a sour taste (bait and switch marketed as a key component of the final of the saga).

Take away that release date and Avenger tie in and you have The Marvels.

It's also regarded as one of the weaker MCU films generally bottom third.

We had 3 Star Wars movies staring daisy ridley and 2 ms marvel movies with Brie Larson. All 5 are pretty bad.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens: RT 93%, Box office 2.1 billion
Star Wars: The Last Jedi: RT 91%, Box office 1.3 billion
Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker: RT 51%, Box office 1.1 billion
Captain Marvel: RT 79%, Box office 1.1 billion
The Marvels: RT 62%, Box office: ?

Whether those films are bad or not is certainly subjective and you are welcome to your opinion, but recognize that it does not represent a general consensus. The current one certainly seems to have mixed reviews and is tanking, and RoS had mediocre reviews as well, but the other three were all well reviewed, and very profitable.

What is the general point that you are trying to make?

I think the general trend is that:

1. Overall movie attendance is down, since the pandemic.
2. Superhero films in particular are seeing declining ticket sales.
3. No genre stays on top forever (evidence: the entire history of cinema).

Well my counter argument would be that it was basically a bridge movie between the 2 infinity war movies and a lot of men wanted to see it (wiki). So tell me why didn’t they come back this time. Wasn’t a great week for football and many other sports events have ended.

I liked the character and enjoyed the portion of her fight in endgame but it’s clear people didn’t want to come back but yet men did for Barbie and the messaging for Barbie really wasn’t meant for them

From memory 2/3rds the viewers of Barbie was female 2/3rds The Marvels was male.

It's the writing Barbie was great Disney's been in a rut post Endgame and arguably before that with certain projects.

Belief... or excuse for those who want to dismiss its success?

Well you have current box office.

Captain Marvel marketing was specifically tied to the Avengers Saga. Those credits scenes iirc (its been 3 years for me iirc).

As I said the trend has been for a while either post endgame or Eternals depending on one's PoV.
They had 6 billion dollar movies one year post endgame I don't think a single MCU film has broken a billion.

I must have seen a different Barbie movie.
Isn’t basically a movie about women empowerment? I remember reading that many feminists were not happy that men didn’t get the message of the movie?

Follow up argument. Will the director of the marvels and Brie get a sequel? My argument is no regardless of excuses
