21st May 2024 is the official release date!
Update--WotC has taken down the promo image and replaced it with one without a release date. See more here.
yes, but they were forced into it by the OGL debacle, otherwise it would not have come this soon. A remaster would have come, but probably 3 or 4 years down the line, shedding the OGL forced them to do so nowIf I were into it, I'd be pretty annoyed at a new edition after less than 4 years, gotta be honest.
To their credit, Paizo still sells the old stuff, including some digest versions.Yeah. I've been debating picking up PF1 books. I think next time Los Angeles has a game convention I'll see if someone is selling some used. From what I've heard about PF2, I have no interest in that system.
Yeaaaaah, I can see from a business perspectice they feel compelled to do it, I would still be extremely annoyed.yes, but they were forced into it by the OGL debacle, otherwise it would not have come this soon. And I would be triple annoyed if I bought a bunch of PF2E stuff in early 2023, like a lot of people did.yes, but they were forced into it by the OGL debacle, otherwise it would not have come this soon. I playtested it, but I decided that I didn't really like the very things that drew me to it in the first place. For example: The three action economy (Everything is an action (or two!), and you get three of them) sounds great on paper, but I found it problematic in practice. My players always wanted to do two or four actions on their turns, and we had to wait for the two-guy to figure out a third, and I had to be the "heavy" and disallow the fourth action. ALL. THE. TIME.Yeah. I've been debating picking up PF1 books. I think next time Los Angeles has a game convention I'll see if someone is selling some used. you can stick with the current version, just like on the 5e sideYeaaaaah, I can see from a business perspectice they feel compelled to do it, I would still be extremely annoyed.
Paizo, of course, did the WotC "the new edition is backwards compatible" dance and much like 5e, a number of people are calling it 2.5 due to the changes. And I would be triple annoyed if I bought a bunch of PF2E stuff in early 2023, like a lot of people did.
The hardcover book format was fundamentally a mistake, they should have stuck with game boxes.I wish it was four books.
PHB.... All the rules to play other than monsters
MM
DMG.... How to run the game, etc, no magic items
Magic items book, with lots of items, alternate rules like legacy items, maybe more traps and puzzles, etc.
Your fourth book could include mundane items and add quite a bit to the exploration/skill challenge-type tier of the game. It could also have expanded downtime-style rules, and a bigger/better version of the Bastion-system. Possibly also NPCs. Lots that could go in there, really.I wish it was four books.
