D&D (2024) [+] Future of The SRD Speculation Thread

Why would that be difficult to do. It isn't like thing not in the SRD are impossible. You just can't use exact wording. it takes a tiny bit more work.
Having that as an SRD baseline means that will be an OGL baseline design going forward. Taking away even small impediments and easy necessary workarounds is the right direction for things to go.

  • Feats as core: Almost certainly means we will see at least a dozen or so feats in the SRD, even if it’s only level 1 feats, the fighting style feats, and the ASI feat
  • Weapon Mastery: Pretty much have to be in there if the classes are, tbh
I'm not sure what else might be included, but I think you're bang on with these two.

Feats I'd expect at least a level 1 feat, a level 4 feat, the ASI feat, and if there are still feats with a higher level prerequisite, at least one of them; just to give people using the srd some idea of power level.

Weapon mastery needs to be in since it's a core feature of a handful of classes.

I hope they go back to the 3.x era SRD philosophy at least, or better yet adopt the Paizo and EN Publishing one: all of it. All of the rules. That would show real support for open gaming and is a requirement for me "forgiving" the OGL kerfuffle.
That would be a really shocking turn of events, from corporate investor owned wotc, but I certainly wouldn’t complain!
A new document is necessary, due to the water CC and the OGL are both structured.

Beware vase Classes, new Species, and new Rules Glossary, at least. Probably redoes of all the Monsters in the current SRD.
Man your voice to text really did ya dirty on that post.

But yeah I think everything in the current 5e SRD will get updated for sure.

I'd be fine if they just released the minimal changes as an update, provided they also add the 3.5 SRD to CC and eventually an SRD for 4e and 2e.

I'm really curious what an srd VTT might look like? I expect a premium all bells and whistles option, but a free SRD version to take a spin would be interesting.
