D&D 5E If "Extra Attack" Was A Feat, What Would Its Prerequisites Be?

Might I suggest that if Extra Attack is going to be a feat that it needs to be a chain and the fighter needs to get something more in exchange for one of its two worthwhile class features? Or just ax the fighter and give the subclasses to the other classes?
A subclass is the same thing as a "feat chain".

I agree, other classes can this subclass too, as a kind of "prestige" subclass.

I'm assuming that the feat is a one-off, and the number of Extra Attacks doesn't go higher than 2.

A feat that allows the 3rd or 4th attack would require a much more careful appraisal.
Yeah, exactly, x2 seems more likely to be tolerable within the math. When x3 and x4 multiply special features, feats, and magic weapons, it starts to break the game.

I think the prerequisite of 5th+ level and one Martial Weapon proficiency is good. Requiring 13 Str or Dex wouldn't be a bad add-on, as a nod to the multiclass ability requirements.

I also would consider @ichabod's addition of Third attack at 11th/12th level, possibly giving the Barbarian, Ranger and Paladin a shot at another attack if they want to burn a feat, but it would need to be playtested (as all things should).

In the same way a donut is a cracker perhaps.
What difference do you see between a "subclass" and a "feat tree"?

Keep in mind, each class level is worth about a feat. This is why the casters have "empty" levels to pay for a single high tier spell per day.
