Well, at least we have a dragon on one of the books.

Initial impression ... this is my fav of the three. Really digging the back cover, just a wall of monsters staring right at you, but the action in the front is really nice too.

Given the lack of dragons on this cover, the alt cover really needs to be Tiamat.

Wow. I had previously said that I was hoping it wouldn't be a beholder, because I didn't want them to re-use the last cover focus..

But I love this beholder art. It's wicked..

I'm super torn.. I was all in on the alt arts.. But I really like this one.. I can't imagine the alt MM will be as intense given the calm vibes of the other two.

Taking a crack at listing all the monsters shown.

So for the front cover, we seem to have a Demilich (?), a Kraken, a Gelatinous Cube, a Beholder, an Ogre, a Displacer Beast, a Mimic, some bats that could be shapechanged Vampires (?), and some Hobgoblins.

On the back cover we have a Nothic, a Harpy, two smaller Beholders or Beholder-Kin (?), a Green Hag, a Gnoll, a Kobold, a Modron, a Goblin, a Zombie, a few Myconids, an Intellect Devourer, a Mind Flayer, an Owlbear, a Balor (?), the Tentacles could be another smaller Kraken (?), and if I were a betting gal I'd say the big eye in the middle is from a Green Dragon.

Overall I really like this cover and the variety of well known monsters displayed.

Edit: Of further inspection, I believe the the "Demilich" in actually a Flameskull.

Based on what the artist said, I think Boo is also in the picture. No answer on who the caster is. Which makes sense, Boo always goes for the eye!
