To me the best is.

Moderately high starting bonus. Slow escalation after.

+7 to hit a AC13 at level 1. So nice. Alas I am outvoted.

ability scores for ability checks.

rest is replaced by proficiency bonus, and since it's from +2 to +6 it will not change much or anything at all.
I do using prof bonus for attacks, damage and save DCs, ability scores for saves and skills. Works fine.

That by my reckoning is a 75% chance to hit and in my experience not really an issue.
