Best John Williams themes! Go!

It’s… fine. It’s great for a theme tune but compared to his own other work, it’s got some pretty tough competition. It’s no Superman or Star Wars. But an average Williams theme is still a great theme.

I am kind of confused about who wrote the Harry Potter music as I feel like I have seen his name and Patrick Doyle as well as some others credited with it. Patrick Doyle is pretty good too

Fair enough!

That’s the nice thing about opinions - they are all valid :)

My opinion is that his Star Wars theme is fantastic! However, I would put his Harry Potter theme above The Super Man theme …

I feel like the Superman to Indiana Jones era often feels too interchangeable. I Like how different Jaws and Star Wars sound. When he came back and did the prequels I liked what he did there as well (probably the best thing about the prequels to be honest)

Duel of the Fates is possibly the best thing to come out of the prequel trilogy.

Best John Williams themes! Go!

1. A super man
2. A star war
3. Dr Jones
4. Jaws or ET maybe
5. A close encounter
6. Dino-park
7. Some others
The best thing I like about this thread is that I feel as though there are no wrong answers. The other day I was having a hard time remembering the last movie theme I found both memorable and good. In the last twenty years, the only movie theme that's really stood out for me is Harry Potter. I've only seen two of them and I'm not at all a fan of the franchise. I recognize the Avengers theme, but it is nowhere near as good or memorable as many Williams scores.

I'm not even going to try to rank Williams' score. I suppose Star Wars is my favorite, I wanted my bride to walk down the aisle to the Imperial March, but you can't go wrong with a Williams score.

1. Star Wars
2. Indiana Jones
3. Jurassic Park
4. Close Encounters
5. ET
6. Olympic Fanfare*
7. Jaws
8. Superman
9. Home Alone
10. Hook.

*This is the biggest one that has been missing from this thread so far. Nobody said it had to be a movie theme.
