I guess Wizards of the Coast is moving on from IDW for D&D comics…

DARK HORSE AND WIZARDS OF THE COAST TEAM UP FOR A NEW PUBLISHING PROGRAM

DARK HORSE AND WIZARDS OF THE COAST TEAM UP FOR A NEW PUBLISHING PROGRAM

Dark Horse Comics and Hasbro's Wizards of the Coast announce an exciting new publishing line beginning in 2025, with comics and graphic novels expanding the worlds of DUNGEONS & DRAGONS and MAGIC: THE GATHERING! The officially licensed publishing program will feature original stories based on the popular fantasy roleplaying and trading card games. The first of these series will debut in summer 2025.

Dark Horse lost some of its biggest cash cows, like Aliens, to Marvel in the recent past, so I would expect them to be very committed to this new partnership to make up for it. They do good work generally and I think we can expect good things here, and maybe of a higher quality than some previous efforts. (Tastes vary, YMMV, etc., etc.)

I would read a DH produced Eberron ongoing, for sure.
I'd really love a gritty -- but not necessarily grimdark, which isn't really a flavor WotC pushes for its D&D properties -- series that basically tells Conan-style tales, but in a D&D universe.

I love winged cats and flying cities as much as anyone, but sometimes, I just want a goliath, a greatsword and hungry owlbear.
