Just a thought, but given they are still legal & from a PHB, but not in the 2024 PHB, should they s

in a way that is incompatible with the 2024 rules… this is completely pointless and counterproductive from WotC’s perspective, and won’t happen
I know that.

But that wasn't the question The question was that should these two species be in the SRD.

And I believe they should be for the reasons I gave.

Mixed Heritage should be a race entry in the PHB to cater for races that have already been covered, such as Humans, Orcs and Elves. I would not put Tiefling ...etc in that category because Fiends are not included as a full playable entry.

So now you're standing on principle!
Yes. Nothing wrong with that.

My point was that his rejection of a feat based system was not due to balance or power level concerns, but the principle that a feat should not change your species. I was agreeing with that, but apparently his complaint wasn't that nor was it balance, so I'm just convinced it is to be contrarian for the sake of argument.

no they should not, for the reasons I gave.

Yours are not really reasons used to decide whether to include something in the SRD or not, regardless of what it is.

The question you should be asking instead is either whether they should be included as individual entries in the PHB, or whether better rules for creating a mixed species should be included in the PHB. Until either happens, none of this should be in the SRD.

I never said my reason was a good reason.

My reason is a purely selfish reason.

However the goal of my reason requires it to be in the SRD.

Not a principle that it should not change your race. A feat cannot change your race. A feat is something you learn AFTER your PC is born, not something you are born with or as. Race is determined at birth.

This is from the 2014 PHB

"A feat represents a talent or an area of expertise that gives a character special capabilities. It embodies training, experience, and abilities beyond what a class provides."

Edit: Altering your position on this out of spite has caused me to lose a lot of respect for you. Positions shouldn't change out of spite. If you believe something, you believe it.

It might be nice to say that upfront rather than require people to figure out what angle you're coming from.
I thought I was upfront when I basically said "I don't want you to make these species unless you have the onus to do a good job and not half ass it because you don't care".

That’s not as clear as “I never said my reason was a good reason. My reason is a purely selfish reason.”
