And the old spells.that is not all the compatibility though, old subclasses that are not in 2024 are also compatible, not just adventures
Bladesinger with booming blade still works.

I don't know. There are a lot of folks who started in 5e, and who own and use the current PH. Those people may very well be confused by a new PH where a ton of stuff is different but it's supposed to be the same game. I know I would expect a book with as many differences from its predecessor as this one to either be a new edition or have a new name. They did neither.they did that
this would not ever have worked
IIRC, when 3E dropped the "Advanced" portion of the games names it was because they didn't want new players to be intimidated by the name and scare them away from trying the game. I bet this is just an extension of that logicThey wanted to do away with the edition naming convention because they wanted new players to not be confused
That’s actually fantastic to hear! More reliable baseline, less dramatic spikes? Sounds way easier to build balanced encounters for!D4 D&D Deep Dive with Treantmonk both focus on optimization builds. They note that 2024 damage-per-round tends to do more damage, but the spiking damage (going nova) is notably less damage.
sounds like you need glassesDoesnt necessarily jump out at you, if you get out your microscope you might see it
Those books never presented themselves as revised in any way other than layout or art.that sounds far more deceptive to me…
Were either of those things "updated" in the 5.5 PH?And the old spells.
Bladesinger with booming blade still works.
I think your overestimating the changes.I don't know. There are a lot of folks who started in 5e, and who own and use the current PH. Don't need them because I already have them. I always keep a spare pair around in the event of a drunken mishap, which theres been a few. Nothing worse than waking up and having to find your glassessounds like you need glasses
they want people to see it as new and compatible. Of course it is different, it is not a reprintThey want people to see it as new and the same, but it's actually new and different.
