D&D 5E (2024) can people give themselves Heroic inspiration with musician feat?

Reading the rules for inspiration, you may be able to give yourself inspiration by targetting an ally who already has heroic inspiration.

In 2024 you can pass the inspiration when you receive it, but you can't grant it to an ally on the fly anymore.

So reading the rules strictly, you can give your whole party (6 people including you) inspiration at level 1, by just short resting three times in succession.

I am not sure that is the intend. And I think the feat is too strong used that way. Either it should be available at long rests only. Or it should state that the old inspirations gained by this feat vanish if you use it again.
So I will interpret the last line "you can affect a number of allies equal to your proficiency bonus" as the maximum number of allies who can have heroic inspiration you granted from that feat.

Late coming back on this one, but Inspiring Leader has a specific addition that the bonus can be given to allies including yourself, so with the lack of that in Musician you're probably out of luck.

To me that actually is evidence in favor that ally can refer to yourself.

Yea. That’s definitely possible by RAW.

I’m not a fan that ‘your ally’ refers to yourself, but the RAW supports it, although could have been a bit clearer.

1. Ally is defined in the rules glossary as a member of your adventuring party. You are a member of your adventuring party and thus meet this definition.

2. In the inspiring leader feat we have a specific example of ally being used where it explicitly includes yourself. Thus proving ally need not refer to others.

I'd say and rule, that yes, you are your own ally. What could possibly be the issue with doing so? Does it break any aspect of the game? Probably not.
