Spoilers Rings of Power is back!

I actually like this series. Yes, there are serious lore flaws, but it's not that bad as modern TV adaptions go. If the show is allowed to run its course it will probably serve as a pretty good prequel story to the Jackson trilogies.

In one way I guess I've resigned to the fact that for someone to pour multi-millions of bucks into a show, it gotta have broad appeal components to ensure viewer numbers. So we have cute hobbits, cartoon dwarfs, bad-bad orcs, stupid-smart elves, a prolonged de-stupification of Gandalf, etc etc. But the basic story flows on in an entertaining way.

As I've said my whole life, if it has swords, spaceships, magic or ray guns in it, it's worth watching.

The “rise of the hobbits” storyline exists as a counterpoint to the rise of Sauron. Sauron cannot be defeated with power, because he can always corrupt power. Sauron can only be defeated by little folk who have no desire for power. This is straight from the book.

I'm fine with that I'm not enjoying that plotline onscreen is the main point.

And I'm not a Tolkein purist only read the hobbit once;)

I can follow it and due to the wiki I know what Numenor is things like that.

Durron and his wife another highlight.

Durin IV and Disa are my favourite characters, but then I do have a tendency to play dwarves. It's nice to see a dwarf in a cleric/bard type role.

Yeah they're probably my favorite as well.

Didn't give a rats fart in S1 for them. S2 definitely better. 3 dwarves created in new game.

Yeah, like I said previously, with so many different groups of characters, there are bound to be some who are not to any particular individual's taste. For my own part, I love the hobbits' scenes, it's Numenor and Eregion that get on my nerves, which is why I've been extra cranky in my criticisms this episode.

For me, it’s the two wizards and Sauron/Adar I enjoy most, and the dwarves I like the least.

I like this season better than the last one, but I really can't stand how they are depicting the Numenoreans. They were high men, more advanced than any other race of men. Essentially they were Atlantis. Instead they are being depicted is petty low superstitious people(Oh no! An evil elf stone!!! Everyone panic.).

Eh, they're barely in it and a side-story, at least at present. I can barely remember what's happening there.

I'll be interested to see what they do with the dwarven rings. From what I can recall from LotR, they supposedly never fully corrupted the dwarves because Sauron didn't truly grasp the dwarves' nature.
It wasn't that he didn't understand their nature. Dwarves were made to resist the corruption of Morgoth and Sauron was just little Morgoth, so his rings didn't work fully on them.
