Spoilers Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft

This came out yesterday and honestly I was not as thrilled with it as I thought I would be. I enjoyed it. But the story was not any more satisfying than that of Shadow of the Tomb Raider, which I rather disliked on that account. The first two games in the Survivor trilogy felt more grounded than Shadow and this series has the same problem.

I'm having a hard time keeping up with game franchises. I have the 2013 Tomb Raider but I'm not sure which titles come before or after that one.

We just watched the first three episodes of this series on Netflix. It's entertaining but predictable. We will keep watching for nostalgia's sake.

It’s after the rebooted trilogy. Events in the first and second game are referred to so far as I’ve watched. She evolves into the Lara of the original games by the end of the series.

But my partner has never played the games and isn’t having trouble keeping up with the story.

It was ok. A 6.5 on 10. We liked her psychological / trauma healing journey more than the adventure. The villain, faced with similar circumstances, was the perfect foil as he evolved in the opposite direction. At the end of the show, she is the Lara Croft we discovered in the first installment of Tomb Raider.

Tomb Raider: Lara Croft The Early Years, would have been a better title.
