D&D (2024) Why aren't you using 5e 2024?

Why aren't you using 5e 2024?

Nothing would make me happier than a version of D&D that revolved around playbooks.

And yes, I know about Dungeon World, but I mean more specific playbooks like Beyond the Wall.
Why can't you just play Beyond the Wall? Does it have to be "official" D&D?

Not even close. I mean, the rules tell you that, but what you get from 4 feats far outstrips the usefulness of the two 18's. Two 18's isn't that much better than the two 14's when you get down to it.
Oh, I know it's not AS good, but it would be the cost to go from a starting double 15 in point buy + racial adjustment to a double 20.

But yes, I would take 6 feats and a starting 17-16 over 2 feats and a 20-20 any day of the week and twice on Friday.

I take it Friday is game day? :P

20 Con + Tough + 10 HP at 1st level is 59 HP out of the 100, so he rolled 41+ on 6d10. Solid roll, but nothing too crazy.
The rolls average nearly seven, so yeah very solid in the top 15%.

But yea, this just might be a question of expectations. Even with his outsize stat rolls, nothing about that character seems like a problem.
Not a "problem" but a case of a powerful build for 7th level. Also, as I mentioned a slight nerfing to some of his Rune Knight features---which I never even touched on in the post--which otherwise add even more to the power of the PC.
