I love hearing that complaint from them. It's like saying I have too much cash to fit in my wallet.
I mean, sure, they undoubtedly could have found more printers to cope with the volume, but there were probably might have been other reasons for the delay that they just haven’t shared. (The marketing dept might have insisted on spreading out the releases more so as not to saturate the market; their work on the MM might have taken longer than they expected; etc.)

I know it's crazy, but I would respect corporations a lot more if they were more transparent about stuff like that. The marketing-speak doesn't do them any favors in my eyes.

before the pandemic there were four printers of the scale to work on D&D
there are now two
