D&D 5E Don't Throw 5e Away Because of Hasbro

Like I said above not familiar with all the issues but common sense would tell me that I can't share page after page after page even if it wasn't explicitly spelled out when I received my review copy.
It's wise for creators to educate themselves a bit on IP law and how fair use works, because what some folks call common sense is not an accurate guideline in many cases.

I suspect they were totally blindsided by youtubers sharing their entire product and calling it a review. Page by page. Has that ever happened before? I’m pretty gobsmacked by the whole thing. Can you ever imagine them doing a page by page release of a Level Up product?

Yes I believe several YouTubers were known for paging thru books. Maybe not as complete. A couple few twitch folks too.

Here is Newbie DMs. Tome of Foes. WotC sent him a review copy.

On what planet is that even remotely considered ”fair use”?

Skipping through that video to see how much creator input there was vs. just paging through the book, and not hearing too much of the former...
I would not try to justify Fair Use as a defense against a takedown with that video.

IANAL, but, it was always my understanding that fair use for reviews made it pretty clear that you weren't to reproduce large sections of whatever you are reviewing. That was always the point. Even looking at stuff like the "Dragon Magazine readthroughs" here on EN World, they are pretty obviously not reproducing or even quoting much of anything from the magazines.

I don't watch gaming youtube videos. Just not my thing. I had no idea that this was being done.

I'm not a lawyer either, just worked as a law clerk for an IP firm, but I'm not gonna go further into IP, fair use, and its fuzziness here.

It’s worth noting that in the original Sly Flourish video on the issue. He makes it clear that it wasn’t a copyright strike, it was just a nice request to ask politely if he could blur some sections out.
for him it wasn’t, he is not the only one they reached out to
