I never said anyone has to, really. But several 3pp I know of clearly feel they have to, and that's close enough in the world outside our individual tables.
I mean even 3PP make mistakes. Several I have seen clearly feel they don't have to. We can't control what people feel and our feelings are often misguided.

Well you say that, but that is how your statements (and mine and most anyone who doesn't always qualify there comments with IMO or similar) come across. As if what your stating is general true or correct. Just as it is not your intent, it may not be @AlViking 's either.
I do my best to throw in the IMO whenever I make a claim. If it doesn't happen every time, I apoligize. Everything I talk about is personal opinion.

Yes, and we should probably assume that of everyone, including @AlViking as well. I do admit that I have to remind myself sometimes that no one is talking with authority hear, it is all just opinions.

I think everyone should make an effort, in the name of clear discourse, not to make sweeping statements without qualifying them as opinion.

I do tend to agree, but that is not the trend in these forums. I try myself, but I can be hard when your typing responses to several different comments in quick order (or while I am "working" and a bit distracted).

I'm sticking with 5.5. Not everyone likes it, but everyone knows what you mean.
I think that is your opinion or assumption, but not necessarily true. Oldies like us who are familiar with 3e-3.5e know what you mean, but people who started with 5e (and that is a lot of people now) could be very confused by it. That is why I prefer 5e14 and 5e24 (or just 5e). I don't know how I can be more clear in fewer key strokes.
