I can take or leave the aasimon nomenclature, but since they never use it, the aasimar species' name is kind of a headscratcher.

That is why I don't like them in the Giant type. The lore of "Giants" in D&D does not include oversized animals IMO. It is specifically about "true" giants and there relatives. Honestly, I don't like D&D trolls as Giants either (though folklore / mythological trolls fit just fine).
It's a brand new ballgame. WotC expects us to get with it or get out of the way.

There is nothing new about trolls being giants. I think they were giants in 3e too.
Giant intelligent animals being celestials is new, and far from the only new thing in regards to lore. All of this is WotC deciding on their own. It has nothing to do with us, new or veteran, and it just is how it is.

Like I said, we either accept all their changes, fix them for our own games (my choice), or get out of the way.

That feels like a kind of weak retcon to align it with the 5E version. The quote he pulls out says Eberron's MATERIAL PLANE is inside the transitive planes. that's it.

Anyway, not that it matters. Keith's Eberron is not my Eberron. ;)
Keith's Eberron isn't really WotC's Eberron either.

OK, I don't have any issue with that, just like I can handle when trolls become Giants in 3e.

That has been true since the beginning of the game, it is not a WotC thing.
